Our Teachers
Alex Davies is a dedicated vocal coach and the founder of the Northwood Musical Theatre Choir (Sing Space). As a certified Vocal Health First Aider, she specialises in assisting clients with both speaking and singing voice issues.
She gained a First Class BA (Hons) Degree in Musical Theatre from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2017 and has since worked with various schools and youth groups. Alex has served as a Singing Technique teacher at East 15 Drama School and has collaborated with organisations such as Theatre Train, Ridgeway Studios, Stagecoach, and the Anna Fiorentini Academy. She has also led choirs for children and visually impaired adults.
Alex has extensive experience teaching Contemporary Commercial Music (CCM), including Musical Theatre and Pop/Rock. She works with a diverse range of clients, from children to professional adult and adolescent performers, focusing on vocal technique, repertoire building, audition preparation, vocal health, acting through song, and creating personalized ongoing training programs.
In September 2023, Alex is launched the Northwood Musical Theatre Choir, a non-audition adult choir welcoming individuals of all abilities to explore the joy of singing show tunes in harmony. Rehearsals are on Thursdays in term time at Saint John’s United Reformed Church in Northwood.
Alex’s teaching philosophy emphasizes that singing is about self-expression and enjoyment. She adopts a holistic approach to teaching, tailoring her methods to meet the unique needs of her students.
Joe Pollard is a talented acting teacher with a passion for theatre. Joe specialises in teaching LAMDA exams, including Acting, Shakespeare, Musical Theatre, Speaking in Public and Speaking in Verse & Pro's.
Joe gained their BA (Hons) Degree in Musical Theatre from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2017. They have worked throughout the entertainment industry as an actor, singer, host and teacher. Joe has worked around the world in hotels and cruise ships, gaining valuable experience working with a variety of people. Also working on various contracts and UK tours in theatre in education and enjoying working pantomimes around the UK. Joe has also been working in education as a teaching assistant for many years mainly working with children with special educational needs.
Joe loves what theatre and storytelling can teach others and how it can create community, they want to make theatre and acting more accessible. They also want to spread how acting and drama can benefit everyone with transferable skills!
